Foundation Cigar Company was formed by Nicholas Melillo in June of 2015 and debuted El Güegüense, The Wise Man - Corona, which was awarded among Cigar Aficionado’s ‘Top 25 Cigars’ of 2016.

The Company launched The Tabernacle, Charter Oak, and the infused line, The Upsetters, in 2016. In 2018, The Wise Man Maduro was named #3 Cigar of the Year by Cigar Aficionado, and The Charter Oak was named Best Value Cigar. Foundation’s home offices reside in the Connecticut River Tobacco Valley, and its production is in Estelí, Nicaragua.

Foundation Cigar Company’s goal is to bring top-quality premium cigars to connoisseurs worldwide.

“Nicholas Melillo ( @nickragua )is a well-known cigar maker in the premium cigar industry. He is the founder and owner of the Foundation Cigar Company, which produces a range of high-quality, handcrafted cigars.

Melillo began his career in the cigar industry at the age of 18, working in a cigar shop, the Calabash Shoppee, in his home state of Connecticut. He went on to work for a well-known cigar company, Drew Estate, where he developed some of their most popular blends. In 2015, he started Foundation Cigar Company to create unique and flavorful cigars that would appeal to novice and experienced smokers.

Melillo is known for his expertise in tobacco blending and his commitment to using only the finest quality tobacco in his cigars. As a result, his blends are often complex and flavorful, focusing on rich, nuanced flavors and a balance of strength and complexity.

🌞 - day 🔥 The Olmecs pre-date the Aztecs and Mayans and are considered the “mother culture” of Mesoamerica. This ancient civilization was one of the first to consume and cultivate tobacco in the same soils that this Mexican San Andres wrapper is grown. The Olmec by Foundation Cigars (@nickragua ) has been years in the making and is a balanced - full bodied blend that is unlike anything else they make. It is a homage to the mother culture of the Americas and the Original Cigar Smokers that we know of. The blend is focused around San Andrés Negro Capa from Mexico 🇲🇽 - this same area is where the Olmecs originally cultivated and smoked tobacco.
